Sorushi weekly report: sharp AI-generated themes, a pulled quote, mood trajectory chart, and key decisions surfaced from a week of journal entries.

“Most journals feel like writing into a void. You pour your thoughts in and nothing comes back. Sorushi changes that. Every entry triggers AI that reads between your lines - surfacing the patterns you miss, the questions you avoid, and the insights you need.”

The idea

What is AI journaling?

AI journaling is a form of reflective journaling where an AI reads what you write and replies with observations, questions, or analysis. Traditional journaling is a one-way activity: you pour thoughts onto a page and the page stays silent. An AI journaling app closes the loop.

When you finish an entry in Sorushi, the AI reads the full text and responds in four distinct ways. It fires back pointed questions about what you wrote. It compares today's entry against your last thirty days and surfaces patterns you couldn't see from inside your own head. It detects goals and commitments, then tracks whether you follow through. And at the end of each week and month, it synthesizes everything into a reflection report.

The result is a journal that actually builds on itself. Write enough entries and Sorushi starts to notice things about you - contradictions, recurring themes, avoided topics, moods that spike on particular days. That noticing is what makes AI journaling different from writing in Day One, Notion, or Apple Journal. Your reflection compounds into insight.

How it works

Three steps to thinking clearly

Step 1

Write anything

A distraction-free editor that feels like writing on paper. Rich text, mood tracking, tags. Quick capture in under 30 seconds.

Step 2

Get challenged

AI reads your entry and asks the questions you're not asking yourself. Specific, sharp, tied to what you actually wrote.

Step 3

See patterns emerge

Over days and weeks, Sorushi spots what you can't - recurring themes, mood cycles, avoided topics, and goals going stale.

Four AI lenses

Your journal, amplified

Every entry passes through four distinct AI analyses. Each one reveals something different about how you think.

Challenge Mode

After you write, Sorushi fires back with 1–3 questions that push past surface-level thinking. Like a smart friend who asks what everyone else is too polite to ask.

You said you ‘need to be tougher.’ Whose version of tough are you borrowing?

Pattern Recognition

Analyzes entries over weeks to identify recurring themes, emotional cycles, and behavioral patterns you can't see yourself when you're inside them.

Pattern: You mention “overwhelmed” 8 times in 30 days - always on weekdays after 6pm.

Coaching Prompts

Detects goals from your entries and tracks follow-through. When you go silent on a commitment, Sorushi nudges you back with precision.

Nudge: 3 weeks ago you committed to launching by March. You haven't mentioned it since.

Synthesis Reports

Weekly and monthly AI-generated digests of your themes, mood trajectory, key decisions, and blind spots. Like a letter from a future version of yourself.

Closing question: “If the scattered approach isn't working, what are you protecting by not committing to one path?”

Questions

Frequently asked

What is Sorushi?
Sorushi is a free AI journaling app. You write an entry and Sorushi replies with sharp reflective questions, surfaces patterns across your entries, and generates weekly and monthly synthesis reports. Think of it as a journal that actually reads what you wrote.
What is AI journaling?
AI journaling is reflective journaling where an AI reads your entries and responds. The AI can ask follow-up questions, detect patterns across time, track goals you mention, and synthesize your writing into weekly and monthly reports. It turns a one-way activity into a two-way reflection.
How is Sorushi different from Day One, Notion, or Apple Journal?
Traditional journals are passive - you write, the page stays silent, nothing compounds. Sorushi reads every entry and responds with challenges, patterns, coaching nudges, and weekly reports. The goal isn't to store your thoughts. It's to turn them into insight you can actually use.
Is Sorushi free?
Yes. Sorushi is free to use during public beta. No credit card, no trial expiry. Sign up, write your first entry, and the AI starts reflecting with you immediately.
Is my journal private?
Yes. Your entries are scoped to your account and only you can read them. Your writing is sent to Anthropic (Claude) only to generate your own insights, under terms that prohibit training on your data. Embeddings for search and pattern detection are generated locally and never sent to a third-party AI provider. You can export or delete everything at any time. Read the full privacy policy.
Does the AI train on my journal entries?
No. Sorushi uses the Anthropic API under terms that prohibit training on your data, meaning your entries are not used to train any AI model. Embeddings for search are generated locally on our servers, so no external embedding provider sees your text either. Your writing is used only to generate your own reports and insights in the moment.
How long should my entries be?
Entries of 20+ words trigger the AI Challenge Mode. Longer entries (100-300 words) produce richer pattern recognition and synthesis reports, but Sorushi will work with whatever you write. There's no minimum streak or daily quota to hit.

Your thoughts deserve more than a void.
